DINA DOUGLASS COMES TO ATHLONE

Last Wednesday was a very special penultimate meeting for Athlone Photography Club’s 2014/2015 season, we had the privilege of welcoming international photographer Dina Douglass of andrenaphoto.com for an incredible evening of talks, a live shoot and post processing.

Dina reigns from LA, California, and is an internationally renowned wedding, fashion and portrait photographer, having photographed weddings in nearly 30 countries. Dina was voted as ‘One of the top 10 wedding photographers in the world’ by American Photo Magazine and was also a judge at the WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International) conference & competition in Las Vegas.

Dina very kindly added APC to her busy schedule, she diverted to Athlone while travelling to deliver some teaching and do a shoot in the UK this month. Thanks to Liam Kidney, a friend of Dina’s for many years, who made this happen.

Dina delivered a talk on her photography, style and use of colour before we went outside our studio at Abbey Road to do a live shoot, followed by an editing and post-processing session afterwards. Dina is an inspirational photographer and also and inspirational personality, her generous sharing of knowledge was greatly appreciated and will undoubtedly help many of us on our photographic journey for a long time to come.
